The challenge to the Primary Club members of the UK !!!

Our Twelfth Man and Patron Richie Benaud has ‘thrown down the gauntlet’ to members of both The Primary Club of Australia and The Primary Club (UK).

Normally, we pay a $5 fine (donation) each time an Australian cricketer has the misfortune to score a first-ball duck. Richie has upped the ante, and asked that for this Ashes Series of 2009, we now pay a $10 fine each time an ENGLISH batsman scores a primary! But in doing so he has challenged the members of the UK club to do the same. At the end of the day, our respective charities trusts are the winners.

You will recall back in 2005, Richie endorsed a similar challenge, but only to the PCA members, for $1 for every run scored by Glenn McGrath in the 2005 Tests. Glenn obliged by scoring a total of 36 runs, but that did mean another $36,000 for our charities.

All such ‘fines’ are treated as ‘donations’ and are therefore optional and tax-deductible. Please join in the fun, and let’s see the English suffer!
