Members who attended the recent Baggy Green Dinner may have noticed that Club Mascot, Bernie the Golden Duck, was not his normal self and chose not to participate in the panel interview. (Image on the left, above.) We can now reveal that Bernie, at that time, was scheduled for very delicate surgery the following week on his eye, neck and limbs.
We are pleased to report the operation has been 100% successful, thanks to Dr Shirley and her surgical team. Image (above right) shows Bernie following a short spell in the recovery ward last week. We look forward to seeing him at the AGM on 20th October and the Sydney Test Breakfast on 4th January.
- Bilateral cataract removal and the insertion of intraoccular implants;
- Reinforcement of broken neck; and
- Bilateral hip replacements.
