We aim to provide opportunity for all

From intellectual challenges to physical impairment, approximately two million Australians under the age of 65 live with a disability. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, approximately 59% of individuals with a reported disability between 5 and 14 years old participated in physical activity, compared to 20% of 15–64-year-olds and 12% of individuals aged older than 65.

The Primary Club of Australia was founded in 1974 by a group of cricket lovers with the fundamental aim to give those with disabilities the opportunity to engage in physical activity. It was established after a team of cricketers – led by Jon Erby AM and Peter Howarth OAM – found out about a similar charity in the UK where cricketers used their love of cricket for greater benefit.

Due to the value of our work and our track record for achievement, we’ve attracted high profile sponsors and ambassadors, as well as some 1500 members around Australia who continue to make a valuable contribution to the society we live and play in.

Members pay $50 per year and join our Golden Duck fundraiser by donating $10 every time an Aussie player has a first ball duck or ‘primary’ during a calendar year.
Golden Duck donors donate over $1,000 a year and receive special event seating.

What do we do and how can you get involved?

The Primary Club of Australia has a long history of bringing people together, with organisations like Last Man Stands, the Insurance Industry and the cricket we all enjoy together while raising essential funds for worthy charities supporting people with a disability. In March 2022, at the iconic North Sydney Oval, following our 'Insurance Ashes IV' festival, the PCA’s first XI played Boldova, part of the global amateur cricket league 'Last Man Stands'. In a sensational finish the PCA came out winners by just one run! Hear from Last Man Stands Rob Stevenson, also a long time PCA board member, as well as Brett Williams, former executive at Allianz, and special guest and generous PCA supporter Guy Sebastian on their take on the day.

Richie Benaud Interview

Richie Benaud OBE served as Patron and Twelfth Man of the Primary Club of Australia from March 2002 until his passing in 2015. Richie attended each of the Club's Marathon Cricket Festivals at the SCG since their inception in 2010, and here at 'MC III' he agreed to a frank interview with journalist Georgi Glover discussing his respect and admiration for the Primary Club and its ideals.
