What is the Sargood Foundation?

The Sargood Foundation is the driving force behind the creation and development of Sargood on Collaroy. Our beautiful resort which is operated by an award winning team from Royal Rehab, provides guests who live with SCI, their partner, friends and family with much-needed respite, refreshment, and relaxation. It is also a place of learning, where guests gain confidence, skills, and the empowerment to live full and rewarding lives and to participate in their local community in an active way.

Impact of spinal cord injury

The impact of an SCI on a person is devastating – affecting independence, and impairs bodily functions such as breathing, digestion and sexual function. SCIs also cause debilitating health consequences such as chronic pain, and bladder and bowel dysfunction As a result, people living with an SCI require substantial support and assistance in daily activities, are less likely to return to work and suffer from poorer health and wellbeing.

"The Primary Club supplied the Sargood Foundation with specialised equipment for the Foundation's gym at Collaroy."

"Approximately 20,800 people are estimated to be living with an SCI in Australia today, including 380 new incidences expected to occur this year."

How we help the Sargood Foundation

The Primary Club helped fund the purchase of mountain bikes to help people with spinal cord injuries discover the joy and adrenaline rush of mountain biking.

“These bikes, funded by the Primary Club, have proved so popular that Sargood is often unable to accommodate all their clients on these eagerly awaited outings.”
